What NOT to do 24 hours before your Micropigmentation

What NOT to do 24 hours before your Micropigmentation

"I drank three coffees because I was so nervous about the pain"

When Silvia lay down on the bed for her Powder Brows, I noticed a tiny vein throbbing on her temple. She was a bundle of nerves.

Five minutes into the treatment, I had to stop. Literally, her skin was pushing out every single drop of pigment I tried to implant. She was bleeding more than usual, and her skin was red and inflamed.

I asked her what she had done that morning. Her response: "I had three double espressos to wake up and took an Ibuprofen because I was afraid it would hurt."

I had to clean her brows, cancel the appointment, and send her home. Her skin was a ticking time bomb, and if I had continued, the pigment would have mixed with the blood, healing into a blurry, ashy gray blob.

Fifty percent of the success of a micropigmentation treatment doesn't depend on my hands; it depends on what you do in the 24 hours before you sit in my chair.

Blood Chemistry and Pigment

Micropigmentation involves implanting color into the superficial layer of the dermis. If your blood is too "thin" or your blood pressure is high, your body will use that blood to "wash out" and expel the pigment instantly.

Here is the blacklist (what is strictly forbidden) before your appointment:

1. Goodbye Caffeine (and energy drinks)

Coffee, black tea, and energy drinks are vasodilators. They increase your heart rate and blood pressure. If you drink coffee before coming in, you will bleed much more. More bleeding equals poor color retention and patchy healing.

2. Zero Aspirin or Ibuprofen

It’s the most common mistake: "I'll take something so it doesn't hurt." Don't do it. Ibuprofen, Aspirin, and Vitamin E are blood thinners. Instead, we apply high-quality topical numbing cream at the Studio so you feel absolutely nothing.

3. No Alcohol the night before

That glass of wine to celebrate your new brows will cost you. Alcohol dehydrates the skin and also acts as a blood thinner. You will arrive with dry, sensitive skin, and you will bleed.

4. Sun and Harsh Exfoliation

Do not come in with sunburned skin or peeling skin from a recent chemical peel or retinol use. We need your skin to be strong, calm, and intact.

The Peace of Mind of Playing it Safe

We rescheduled Silvia for a week later. This time she came in having eaten a good breakfast, drinking only water, and without taking any medication. The procedure was smooth as silk: zero bleeding, zero pain, and spectacular pigment retention.

At AC Studio, we will never risk your face because of a rush. If your skin isn't ready, we don't work. That’s why, the very second you confirm your appointment, we send you an exact step-by-step guide on what to do in the days leading up to it.
